Welcome to the town of Ancaster.  Featuring a lovely downtown (known as "the village"), great highway access (to the 403 and the Linc) and home to the Hamilton Golf and Country Club, Ancaster was founded in 1793 and amalgamated with the city of Hamilton in 2001.   There are many neighbourhoods that make up Ancaster.  The Meadowlands, for example, is where you'll find the "big box" stores, chain restaurants and movie theatre.  You'll find historic buildings in "olde Ancaster", aka "the village", along with independent businesses.

Ancaster Farmer's MarketAncaster also has a great farmer's market that takes place seasonally once a week (pictured) where you can purchase from local vendors and also enjoy entertainment. Ancaster's most notable event would be what's known as "Heritage Days" which features a parade and evening fireworks among other festivities.  This takes place in June.

The HSR (Hamilton Street Railway) services Ancaster and you can take it basically anywhere in the city, and it's not a bad city bus ride to McMaster University (I know, I took this route for my 4 years there).  I attended Ancaster High School, Ancaster Senior Public middle school and Fessenden Elementary in my childhood.  Fessenden has become French immersion in recent years. I grew up in Ancaster and would be more than happy to answer any questions you have!
